This was the opportunity for Spice to prove their ability within the architectural and planning field, incorporating full interior design combining bespoke elements and high specification fixtures and fittings.

The building facia incorporates handmade brick work with feature arched windows, with dormered mansard roof, reflecting a warehouse style dwelling, sitting nicely between our own studios of a similar style and Devonshire Mansions.  The cost of the development incorporating all professional fees was £1,000,000.00, £800,000.00 of which was the building cost.  The development has full NHBC certification.

The complete refurbishment of the entrance hall, creating a new mezzanine floor and meeting room with feature fibreglass cladding and lighting with rear reception area. The external structure was also clad in fibreglass modular panels incorporating logo etc. £600K

Spice Design headed up a project team to receive handover from the managing agents of the new headquarters building and surrounding grounds. The overall brief was an upgrade to suit the new company corporate requirements for presentation suites, meeting rooms, private offices and new satellite control rooms and secure equipment rooms.

Scope of services
Following survey of the new HQ building, all floors were fitted out with new partitions, telephone/data networks and new external redundancy back up generators.

Concept
To reinforce the “high-tec” profile of the potential satellite operator.

 FMOT stands for the “first moment of truth” the acronym used for the first CONSUMER RESEARCH CENTRE utilising new techniques of virtual reality technology to simulate anything from products to new retail supermarket interiors.

Phase One : The initial space planning revolved around the Barco “CAVE” the VR facility achieved by five projectors and mirrors contained in a clean dust free environment.

Over-all project management for complete fit-out of customer focus lounge, customer monitoring rooms, offices, presentation/AV  suite with AV control console. Installation of AV/data network and general   IT equipment rack rooms.

Phase Two: Following the successfull launch to the corporate retail industry, the organisation was expanded to include new offices, retail Lab and a presentation suite incorporating LCD and projector display screens providing 360 degree viewing with remote control of lighting, curtains and blinds.

Design and planning of new staff “Deli”, catering kitchen with a suite of meeting rooms, and staff presentation areas. Production of full specifications, drawing package, and local authority approvals for competitive tender.

Ampersand - Manchester, the creation of new private club, featuring an exotic cuisine restaurant and feature fibre optic lighting. Architectural adaptation of windows and other structure for the Victorian warehouse structure.

Design & management for reception & offices etc.

Strip out exg offices, and fit out new director’s offices and new meeting room equipped with plasma presentation facilities.
Total space planning & restack of five occupied floors consisting of system analyst open plan floors arrangement with management suites and break out meeting rooms.

Provide management and financial control for phased decant of staff relocation and site supervision of all individual contractors. Process documentation for  all local authority applications for building control approval.

Design, planning and project management of 5 floors of office and re-stack. The project was initiated by an in depth report providing a critique on the problems with the existing interior, supported by recommendations for a major refurbishment.
