Bank of America appointed Spice to carry out a detailed survey of their existing facilities which consist of 53,000 sq. ft. of offices including a 24 hour global payment command centre. Spice produced a feasibility report which included a detailed study of department utilisation presented to the Directors and subsequently published and exhibited to all 250 staff.
As a result of positive feedback from management and staff discussion, Bank of America instructed Spice to undertake schemes for a total upgrade of the internal fitting out of the building.
The contract commenced in February 1996 - completed September 1996.Spice also carried out an investigation into the current desking market and organised on-site simulation trials with 5 samples of workstation configurations to accommodate Bank of America’s specific equipment requirements.
Staff trial procedures were also organised by Spice, for evaluating operational seating and storage. Groups of selected staff were briefed by Spice and the results of the furniture and seating trials were monitored and incorporated into reports presented to the Directors of Bank of America with recommendations, based on criteria including ergonomics, cost, and suitability. The project team managed by Spice included Davis Langdon & Everest - the Quantity Surveyors, Building Energy Partnership - mechanical and electrical service consultants, and Leonard Stace - CDM Health & Safety supervision. The fitting-out contract was awarded to Colway Contracts who completed the works within program and budget.
